John Hardy —— Gotong Royong

Leadership at John Hardy wanted to expand on the brand’s responsible business operations with a new approach to its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program. Before we could create a program that spoke to the ethos of the company, we needed to align and codify their Mission, Vision, and Values.

Inspired by the brand’s hand linked silver chain, and their dedication to Bali and their Balinese community, we created an MVV around the idea of “Gotong Royong”, a Balinese phrase that translates to "shared burdens and shared joys."

The MVV work inspired a more meaningful translation of ESG and led to the training and development of a employee-led Advisory Board to direct the brand’s responsible future. The work also laid the foundation for a new approach to art direction and commitment to Balinese culture.
